Rebooting
No primeiro dia ligámos as
There are times when we have to
take a break ... reboot the system and charge batteries. But that does not mean
leaving the bikes behind.
For us it was this weekend. And
what better place to do that than the Alto Alentejo region.
We chose the Arroches vilage as a
shelter port for these 3 days and stayed at the Hotel Rural Santo António http://santoantoniohotel.pt/ where
we were received with a lot of friendliness and kindness. In addition to a
unique landscape, we can also enjoy the outdoor pool to recover from our riding.
In the hotel restaurant, it is also possible to taste the gastronomic
specialties of the region.
We traveled about 150 km in
two days, by the roads of the region, where the intensity of car traffic is
quite reduced and the drivers respect those who are cycling, always keeping a
safe distance in overtaking and slowing down when it is not possible to carry
out safely .
On the first day we connected the
towns of Arroches, Monforte, Assumar and returned to Arronches, in a route of
about 43 km through the highs and lows of the Alentejo plain.
On the second day, we leave from
Arronches along the border route, towards the natural park of the Sierra S.
Mamede.
After a stop at the Apartadura dam, we circled the north side of S.
Mamede passing through the Portagem area, with Marvão always looking at us.
We went up the mountain side and
stopped at Salão Frio for lunch.
The return to Arronches was done
by the N246, which although it has a little more traffic intensity, the wide
and well-shaped berms allow pedaling more safely.
We came back with batteries
loaded and willing to return.

Subida às antenas da Arrábida. Climb to the transmission center of Arrábida
